Kimberly's funeral was so touching. She will be in our hearts forever, and with us in spirit. I wanted to share the poem that was written by her brother, Matthew, at her funeral.
Kimberly: A Cherished Mother of Vikings
Kimberly, the ability to be a valiant mother of Vikings,
Often takes courage and patience beyond ones liking.
Perhaps your preparation started while you were still at an early age,
Earning the honorable nickname of ‘Ox,’ which quickly became your personal gauge.
Kimberly, in a world engulfed by materialistic possessions,
Its awe inspiring a Viking mother would encourage a religious obsession.
Your Kindness, Involuntary sacrifice, and Munificence, never struggled to grow and exist,
These attributes could not be purchased on eBay or obtained for free on Craig’s list.
Kimberly, with such a restless intensity that defies any type of relaxation,
It shouldn’t be a wonder why God called upon you early for a specific action.
Although you may not physically be present to enjoy a Viking excursion or trip,
Your mission is much greater; to prepare the heavens for a Viking welcome – a heavenly flip.
Kimberly, your special name means a Leader of Warriors;
Your Vikings are warriors, who you’ve taught to cherish the Savior.
Reading the scriptures and a picnic on the lawn during a temple look,
Always were more important than cleaning or becoming a master cook.
Kimberly, did you know the Savior’s age reflects yours at time of death?
His charitable ways you clearly mirrored by sacrificing until you were out of breath.
Many say your passing is ironic and poignant, but your compassion lives on with your heart,
Still powerfully beating, providing another at a chance to hang on and not have to depart.
Kimberly, where did the sands of time go so rapidly ushering in a quick sudden release?
With your life having floated by, please make a plea to Father who can cause this storm to cease.
I know each Beck Viking will look back on all the yesterdays,
And clearly remember their cherished mother, who always had time to play.
